The PR account for K-ON!! The Movie made a tweet made just an hour ago (2011-08-12 22:46PDT/2011-08-13 14:46JST) that looked like this:
In the upcoming K-ON!! movie, the Ho-kago Tea Time will be visiting Great Britain on a grad trip! Please look forward to the movie!
That’s one more mystery (?) unraveled from what’s sure to be one of the year’s biggest hit movies.
Let’s just hope they’ll be safe from the riots sweeping the nation…
Remember about a month or two back, I reported that the drink maker Kirin Beverages saw record amount of shipment of their popular drink Afternoon Tea. The extraordinary sales number was fuelled by a K-ON!! × Afternoon Tea campaign at Lawson.
The top prize, awarded to 5 lucky winners, was a model of guitar that Yui uses in the anime.
When the winners received their guitars though, they were in for a pleasant surprise:
It was signed by the cast of HTT. That instantly turned this into a highly coveted collector’s item.
One winner was quick to take advantage of this however.
The item made it on Yahoo! Auctions Japan and quickly rose to ￥266,000, or roughly $3200CAD, and still rising (presumably).
Whoever that’s buying this is either one rich otaku or is stealing money from somewhere to pay for this.
But who knows. Otakus may hold the key to turning around a 20-year stagnation of the Japanese economy.
This auction has officially hit ridiculous levels as someone probably entered a ridiculous bid.
If true that would put this at more than $119,000,000CAD.
I’m sure those who watched K-ON!! remember an episode where Yui’s sister Ui fell ill. It was the same episode where Yui penned the lyrics of one of the insert songs, U&I.
Well, a 2ch netizen imitated the breakfast that Yui made for her sister, and it looks delicious.
The handwritten notes look identical.
Remember those scarfs that Yui and Ui wore on the way to school on a cold morning? There was an episode where Ui shared her scarf with Yui, too.
Well, those scarves are now being commercialized. Take a look.
Yui’s scarf looks to recreate the soft coloring seen in the anime. It is soft and at 230cm long, you too will be able to share your scarf with your sister!
Yui’s version is set to go on sale at the end of February, 2011.
Meanwhile Ui’s scarf features a fish motif with jagged edges and two pom-poms at the end.
Ui’s version will go on sale at the end of January, 2011.
They look nice, but I get this feeling that only the most fanatic anime girls will be wearing this.
This afternoon, Kirin Beverages reported that for the first time in 13 years, they shipped more than 40,000,000 cartons of their famous “Go-go no Koucha” (lit. Afternoon Tea) beverages – most likely thanks to K-ON!! fans driving sales up high.
For those who don’t know, Go-go no Koucha/Afternoon Tea is this:
For about a month, Kirin and Lawson (a convenience store chain) held a tie-up promotion where people buying a qualifying Afternoon Tea product can win K-ON!! merchandise.
Hirasawa Yui’s guitar, Giita for 5 super-lucky people.
There was also a rare one-off figure of Hirasawa Yui made just for this campaign.
Predictably, some people went totally nuts.
Horrifying amount of receipts…
At this point it simply becomes hopeless.
The one-off Hirasawa Yui figure mentioned above, going for ￥52,000.
